Ensuring Messages from DMS are Not Treated as SPAM by Your E-mail Program
Spam filters often catch e-mails sent from automated systems, including the DMS.
Make sure that you can receive notifications from the DMS by configuring your
spam filter to allow messages from execsec@avdc.org.
Instructions for some common e-mail programs follow:
Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007
- On the "Actions" menu, choose "Junk E-mail", and then "Junk E-mail Options..."
- Click the "Safe Senders" tab.
- Click the "Add..." button.
- Type "execsec@avdc.org" in the box, then click OK.
- Click OK in the Junk E-mail Options window.
Mozilla Thunderbird
- On the "Tools" menu, choose "Junk Mail Controls..."
- Make sure the "Do not mark messages as junk if the sender is in" checkbox is CHECKED.
- Make note of the selection next to that checkbox. It may say "Personal Address Book" or
"Collected Addresses" or something else.
- Click OK in the Junk Mail Controls window.
- Click the "Address Book" icon on the toolbar.
- On the left side of the Address Book window, choose the item that was listed in step #3.
- Click the "New Card" icon on the toolbar.
- In the Display Name box, enter "AVDC Executive Director". In the "Email" box, enter "execsec@avdc.org".
- Click OK, then close the Address Book window.
Windows Mail (included in Windows Vista)
- On the "Tools" menu, choose "Junk E-mail Options..."
- Click the "Safe Senders" tab.
- Click the "Add..." button.
- Type "execsec@avdc.org" in the box, then click OK.
- Click OK in the Junk E-mail Options window.
Eudora
- From the "Tools" menu, choose "Options".
- Scroll down and click the "Junk Mail" icon. The Junk Mail options window apears.
- Select "Junk & Address Books".
- Check "Mail isn't junk if the sender is in an address book".
- Click OK to the Junk Mailbox window.
- Click the Address Book icon and add "execsec@avdc.org" to your address book.
AOL
AOL does not have a specific feature to ensure that DMS mail gets through.
However, you should add "execsec@avdc.org" to your address book,
which will help to make sure you properly receive DMS messages.
